4.8is question

I have found a 2006 Lemans with 18K miles and beige interior. Car looks great and well maintained but it was driven in NY state in winter a little and has a touch of rust under the rear frame. I know a few of you owned 4.8is before your M. Any advise if I should pick this up for the wife? I heard some horror stories regarding maintenance costs.

Done. I have a 2005 4.8is in its 7th year with 56k miles. I have had no major repairs. My extended maintenance and warranty insurance expired an year ago and I have only had a brake bulb and oil change since. I just could not get to sell it as the money I will get will not replace the driving pleasure from it. Plus I have ton of mods on it.

2004 4.8is are the problem 4.8is. 2005 and 2006 are Ok.

A 4.8is with just 18k miles, should be a good deal. Just have it inspected and you can buy extended maintenance. Another member, chinaman bought a less than 100 mile 4.8is, you can ping him if you want. A member with imola red 4.8is in FL and low miles is also trying to sell it.

Thanks man, I really like them as well. They may not be as fast as the M but a lot of fun to drive and sound great to the ears. I just want to make sure I don't end up spending a lot of time in the shop as some have suggested on the board.

I had a 2006 and loved the car, but BMW ended up buying the car back as a lemon. It spent a few months out of the year in a shop. Mostly suspension issues.

It's a great car, 2006 would not be much pain and it has very low milage, so I think you should get it.
