There is a recall on Water pumps for turbo V8's
Notice should go out soon.
Had mine in for brake squeal and climate control issues when the Dealer received the recall.
My loaner was a 535 6 Speed which is the best loaner I've ever got. Tons of fun.
The Climate control is better than my X5M as is the Nav. Strange when a car that costs twice as much only 1 year earlier gets bested in creature comforts that are used daily.

The new 5 is pretty good. I also had the new 535 for loaner few times. Its fun. 550 is even more fun.

Does the recall apply to all X5M? All years? Thanks for the info.

All V8 turbos..... So yes all X5Ms

Actually only certain build dates. July 2009 through November 2010

the 550i is pretty quick. the torque is pretty addictive.

How long did it take your dealer to handle the recall issue and were you happy with the overall process?

They handled it fine. They thought it would take a week to get in the pump(unique to X5M) but it only took 2 days.
Unfortunately someone at the Dealer turned my Laser Deflector off and I got hit with a ticket this morning. Saw the gun being aimed and scrubbed 15 mph off in a flash..... but had no idea I was unarmed.
