BMW Performance Black Kidney Grille on X5M

Does anyone know if its possible to install a BMW Performance Black Kidney Grille on an 2012 X5M? I always thought the grille inserts are identical between X5 and X5M, but the BMW web site states its not compatible.

If you specify your vehicle as "2012 X5 xDrive 50i SAV", these parts show up, if you specify your vehicle as "2012 M Models X5M SAV", they dont.

My buddy has them on his 5 series and they look gorgeous.
