New to X5M...got a question

Ive been a long time member now, upgrading threw the years from a 2005 4.4i to 2008 4.8i and now the proud owner of a 2012 X5M. She is amazing.... Alpine white, black perf leather with active seats, leather dash...and every option minus rear entertainment. Had 8k miles on the clock.

Now, I have one question.... I am now hearing a whistling droning noise at low speeds. I know it's the turbos, but is it normal to heard them??? I drove several X5M's in my search over the last 6months and never did notice this sound. Could it be the bearings that are bad or is this just normal???

Thanx

Nice X! Unfortunately I don't have the answer to your question, but hopefully one of the X5M owners will chime in soon.

Thanks guys. Just had the windows tinted today. 35% smoke on the back factory tinted windows and 20% on the front. Matched perfectly. Also installed the lux V4 over the weekend.

Nice X5M. Is that left over camo film on your driver side headlight bottom?

You can hear my turbos while cruising in low speeds. I get turbo noise when I let off the throttle from 2k rpm in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. The wind and road noise will drown out anything faster but im sure its there in all gears and RPM ranges.

I kinda like the turbo noise. Now how to make them as loud as those cars in Fast n Furious movies :P

Glad I'm not the only one who can hear this! Was a bit nervous at first, but with the turbos right behind the firewall I figured some sound would be heard...especially at low speed with radio off.

The sound you're likely hearing is due to loose or defective hoses connected to your turbos. Had same issue under heavy acceleration and dealer just fixed. Good chance your loosing torque as well.
