Agreed. I'm looking at one as a down-sized replacement for the better half's ML benz diesel bluetech, more vehicle than she needs and killer maintenance/repair costs [since she insists on going to a dealer and it has a rash of issues]. We drove an F48 Saturday, dealer has some reasonable sales/lease options. Other than the RFTs [run flat tires ..., no spare std], I liked it. Nice ergonomics for a compact crossover, much nicer and roomier than the benz GLA, and closer to a bmw drive. Car & Driver reviews rate it ahead of the class [except maybe for the more expensive Porsche Macan]

^ +1...
The new X1 is on our list for replacing the CEO's 2010 Hyundai Tucson this late Spring or Summer.

Haven't driven one yet, but will...the typical load it up 'packages' are a bit pricey, (esp in that 'size class'), but it's on our medium/short list.

I may dip a toe into leasing one, (an X1 or other small suv like car), vs outright cash buy as we usually do with our cars.

MotorDavid, well worth a look. But for those RFTs, I liked it, as does C&D - BMW X1 Reviews - BMW X1 Price, Photos, and Specs - Car and Driver

Good news is you can get a compact spare/jack option, though I couldn't talk our likely dealer into swapping out the RFTs for better tires to improve the ride. They do load them up with packages, unfortunately, though my CEO insists on heated seats [in Ga?]

Riggodeaux,
Thanks for that link...I had seen a snippet of it before, but worth the read now.

No fan of RFTs either, but if we leased it the CEO wouldn't care 'what tires', and neither would I as it would be 'their' problem in 3 or 4 yrs.

My CEO's '10 Hyundai Tuck Limited has run very well for 7 yrs, with only a couple of glitches all handled/covered under the warranty. Not a great car, as those earlier versions were so noisy/lack of sound deadening, that normal conversations at hwy speeds are impossible. And, the electric steering is like a bad motorboat from the '60s... But it's price point is almost a third less than the X1, and loaded to the fookin gunwales.

The X1 is interesting to me and to her, but the usual stuff we would want really cranks the price point, esp vs the plethora of other less expensive small suv like cars. BMW/MB are slightly delusion in their typical out the door price, imo.

But, a lease may be of interest though I am 'lease stupid'.

We shall see when we get back to our western NC Mtn Home.

If you get closer or do some serious looking/test drive I would be very interested in reading your valued opin.

And, it does get chilly in ATL area, in winter; a happy CEO is the deal.
