Trunk Release Sensor not working after Hitch was installed
I have a 2016 BMW X3 and just got a hitch installed so I could add a bike rack. I noticed that after the hitch was installed, the hands-free trunk release stopped working. I suspect that somehow the hitch is covering up the sensor. Has anyone else run into this issue? Any solutions? I understand that I can use the keys or button to release the trunk, but would like to be able to trigger the sensor with my foot.
Thanks, areo |

This is probably better suited for the F25 forum. Was this installed at a dealer? Also did you have the electrical (towing connector) package installed or just the mechanical hitch package?

It is just the mechanical hitch package and I installed the hitch at U-Haul.

Yeah that's probably the problem. Likely the support bar for it is blocking the sensor for the hands-free hatch opening. I believe the factory hitch kit does not interfere.
