Question Install XM Radio, 06 X3

I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I have a 06 X3 with satellite radio prep ($75 option). I purchased a plug & play XM kit from Bavarian Soundwerks. I wnated to know if I can place unit & connect in the rear left side space? There is a black velcro bundel of wires. I noticed one is a blue connector for the antena. Can I just plug in there without pulling the radio? Can I use the shark fin antena or do I need to use small unit in the kit?

Thanks
Mark

spell check on isle 5.
The X3 is wired for Sirius not XM. You can buy a kit to use the CD changer connection in the console to adapt XM to the X3. Since you bought the plug and play kit from Bavarian Soundwerks, why not ask them for the instructions ???

I realize that instructions will follow with ordered unit, but I was trying to determine in advance if anybody attached unit to pre-wired location in the back. It would be a much cleaner install and I could use my shark fin antenna. However, per my discussion with BS it appears I will need to place unit in the front and use their antenna. It seems a shame that the kit would not use the factory connections. If you want XM this is the way to go. A side note - XM & Sirius are considering a merger per the Drudge Report today.

Just installed my Bavarian Soundwerks XM with Blitzsafe kit. It took 30 min's. Placed unit in the rear drivers side compartment and used the wiring harness that was already there. I even used the blue shark fin antenna lead and plugged it to the XM unit. To finish I pulled the radio and pulled out the existing white plug and replaced it with the white "CDSARS" tagged plug in the harness. Works just like SIRUS factory unit. Total cost with one year subscription was $341.
