Unhappy Ho Ho Ho-Stone chip in windshield

Well, after a 1000 miles got the first rock dead smack in the middle of the windshield yesterday. It was dime sized. Windshield guy fixed it this am, and it looks ok (but not new anymore). Just bothers the heck out of me on a 1 month old X3. I was driving a back road to avoid the holiday traffic on the interstate, and a GMC pickemup truck threw a large one at me. This was at 50 mph. Oh, well. Had to happen sometime. Had to vent somewhere.

Happy Holidays,
Jon

Are you in NoVA? If so, go to http://www.chipdr.com/ and they can fix it for you and it'll look damn near like it never happened. They repaired a nickel sized star on my windshield. Their # is on the front page or you can email them directly there. Ask for Joanna if you call.

One good thing about Florida insurance law. If you have a damaged windshield, your insurance company has to repair (or replace it, if you aren't happy with a repair) at no charge. No deductible. And, you can demand OEM glass, too. Too bad Virginia doesn't have that law.

I had the same thing happen to me about a month after I got the car. Piss me off, haven't repair it yet, but the crack hasn't gotten larger either. So I guess I will just live with it.

Hey-ho, so it goes... Had my first large stone in the windshield on the X3 at ~3,000 miles, and again just yesterday at ~4,000 miles.

Not cracked, no 'star', but both left nice wide, shallow gouges at pretty much the exact same height in centre-left of the windshield. Nice & visible - which will look great every time the sun comes out.

Stones that used to sail over the roof of my Ci just hit smack dab in the w/s of the X3.
I've seen it's the same on X5s - that's the drawback of of high ride height I guess.

Still very annoying to have on a new vehicle!!
