X3 facelift
Does anyone?BMW is preparing a major facelift for the X3, due for launch in coming July. The new X3 will then be in the dealerships in September 2006. Customers had complained among others about the fake plastic noble look of the interior design. This will see a major change, complete with new bumpers at front and rear end. The photos are showing a latest prototype without any disguise caught during tests in the streets of Munich. The front end has a smoother look with alterations at headlights and front and rear skirt. Also note the different new taillights on the white prototype. At the same time the X3 will get the new fuel engines from the brand- new 3-Series, such as the 2.5 litre/218 HP and for the X3 3.0i a 3.0 litre/258 HP. The 3.0d is said to be equipped with a six-cylinder delivering 231 HP. ![]() ![]()

At least on the outside, it looks like a 2006 with painted bumpers.

I guess it depends on your definition of what a major facelift is. To my mind, this is simply a minor refinement that's typical every 2-3 years or so, and is so subtle most won't even notice it. A major redesign won't be seen until 2011 according to BMW's typical seven year cycle.

Well its a big change for non US markets that still have the traditional black bumper.
The rear is where we'll see more changes with the fiber optic lights, with the bulbs being rearranged in the fixtures... |
