Unhappy 2006 X3 doors creaking problem

My 2006 X3 started to make creaking sound (or as somebody expressed nicely as sound of old chestbox opening) after a month after I bought.

I went to the dealer and they replaced all the door seals. However the
sound is back after awhile.

I see many messages complaining the sound on 2004 and 2005 models
but haven't seen any on 2006.

Does any one have similar problem on 2006 X3 ? If so, do you have any advice to fix the problem ?

Thanks in advance !

Try a little Silicon spray on the door seals. Seems to be a common problem but hey, you have to remember it is a SAV not a 745i.

I wipe my door seals down whenever I'm detailing the interior, with Meguire's NXT TechProtect. A little bit on a rag, and about 10 seconds per door, solves the problem instantly and keeps the door seals quiet for 4-6 months.

I've had this squeaky / creaky noise in my X3 since the car was only a few months new... replaced windows seal, door seal... etc (do search on my posts), but the noise always come back after a few days... to a point where I gave up and try to ignore it (i know, it's difficult becos the noise is soooo annoying)!

UNTIL 6 weeks ago, I took the car in for an oil service and mentioned the issue again... then they put an ultra-thin-transparant tape on the inner side of the door frames, and the noise is completely gone! It's been 6 weeks now and so far so good (fingers crossed!). I think it says "Anti Rubbing Tape" on the job order form.

Thanks for all your replies. So the bottom line is: 1) the squeaky/ creaky noise is common even in 2006 X3s and 2) There's no official fix for this other than spraying or taping remedy ... right ?

Well, the "official fix" is to replace the door seals as described by one of BMW's service bulletins; and the "Anti-Rubbing-Tape" was replaced by the BMW's Service Center.... not sure if you would consider it as "official" as well.

I would definitely suggest to give the anti rubbing tape a try.

And it's also well known that, although the 'official fix' is to replace the door seals, it doesn't work and the creaking noise comes back almost immediately.

Thanks for your advices. I did get all four door seals replaced but doesn't seem to work... I give it a try both - wiping and taping.

btw, where do they apply the anti-rubbing tape ? All around the door or just the upper part ?
