X3 Toolbox: What's in yours?

Hello all

New x3 owner here (pictures soon...It's literally been pouring rain for two solid days here in the NYC area)...and I'm curious to what kinds of tools you guys keep on board, in case of emergency.

My x3 came with a "tool kit" that is basically a screwdriver and a wrench...I'm trying to build out the kit a bit (ideally i'd like to use the area in the left corner area of the back hatch, where the BMW provided tools are...so there is no clutter)

my list so far includes:

-flashlight
-bungees
-a 6 in 1 screwdriver

I'm looking for a simple roadside emergency kit, and some other tools

anybody else added to their x3?

cmyX6go will become famous soon enough
I have jumper cables, flares, triangles, gloves, air compressor, tire gauge, flat fix, flash light, screw driver, first aid kit, blanket in winter, pair of thigh highs (hey, you never know). That covers the basics.

Edit: I forgot - I always have windex and paper towels in the back seat. My drivers ed teacher said to always have a clean windshield! Mr. Brigandza would be proud.

The air compressor and my tiny 100pc tool set (in plastic box) are under the luggage compartment floor.

However, I would not suggest to put any huge metal parts to that space....due to fact battery is there (even the battery is pretty well shielded).

A pair of thigh highs in the emergency kit? Nice touch, L. There are many good uses for nylons!

Other than the obvious use I figure they should get more attention than a white flag hanging off the X should I be stranded.

Tools? It's a brand new car, we don't need no stinking tools. Seriously, Julia and I travel a lot for our business. We carry a plastic egg crate / file box you buy at Office Depot. In it an emergency kit with a blanket, first-aid, flares and that sort of stuff. I carry a few microfiber towels, a can of Spray-away window cleaner, a scrubber/sqweegy (spelling), a roll of Duct tape, a roll of paper towels,a qt of BMW 5-30 oil and 3 or 4 qt bottles of water. NO HAND TOOLS, I have BMW roadside assistance for that. These X3's are pretty reliable and if it did break you most likely couldn't fix it on the road anyway. Hope this helps.

cmyx....thigh highs...nice

rick..i agree, and i have the BMW assist with the prem package, so, you're right, I doubt I'll ever do any major roadside repairs...Still handy to have a few tools on board....and, what motor oil would you recommend? I guess the bmw 5 30?

JuuKoo...how small is that toolbox? LOL....and is the kind of standard 100pc kit you'd get in a hardware store or is it from an auto parts store?

Where do y'all get those roadside triangles that are fluorescent? NAPA had one but it was huge...I'm looking for a nice thin one (or two) that can be tucked awaya

This tool kit is very basic one (and it is small enough.. I can not remember the exact physical size right now). I think that you can buy it from almost every hardware store. Does not need to be 100pc set

And, I also agree about Rick's comment, you really can not do major roadside repairs for X3....but I hope that I (You) will not need to do those repairs. So far so good
