Swapped out interior trim

To make a long story short, I decided to swap out the dark maple wood interior trim for the "matte titanium" (aka plastic with metallic gray paint) trim. I couldn't order it this way because I got a 3.0i and the matte titanium is only an option for the 2.5i. So I ordered the pieces and did it myself! Whew! The doors were easy, but the center console was a solid 2 hours of taking the entire center area, from vents to shifter, apart. Here are some before and after pics. I like the silver SO much better! (And yes, I've only had the car for 3 days now!)

I like it. It looks much more sporty now. Way to go!

BTW, I like the interior quality much better in the '05's than in previous years. It looks to be much improved.

Stealthy and sweet! Did not realize it would make such a great difference. And I see you got a manual too. Why aren`t there more girls like you out there!!

Cheers,

Very nice, I like that look a lot

Wonder why they don't offer that on the 3.0i

I don't know, I wonder that too. It think it's all just marketing. The matte titanium trim is viewed as the "cheap" option and comes standard with the 2.5i. It is really just painted plastic. So the 3.0i which is slightly "higher-end" (a few more accessories are standard) comes with either wood or aluminum. But I like the matte titanium's simplicity so much better than either of those! Now, plain brushed aluminum (without the dots that make me dizzy) or matte chrome (like the door handles) would be even better. Alas, the guy who designed the funky-looking back end must have also come up with the interior options...

Thanks for all of the compliments! It was a fair bit of work, but completely worthwhile. When I got into the car this morning, instead of looking at the trim and feeling "eh," I looked at the trim and felt "ah."

Looks nice! Only three days and now your first mod! I plan on swapping the trim in my 330xi out this summer, because I hate it. Good job, btw!

Nicely Done!

Dang! Nice work - pretty bold for having it only 3 days! Nicely done. Any guidance (manuals, tech support) or did you just wing it? I agree that the matte finish looks much better especially with the light gray leather interior. I have the same interior but have the odd looking "scaley" brushed aluminum. The color scheme works even if the "scales" don't.
