X5/X3 Interoperability and Also Bluetooth

This may seem like a very silly question, but sometimes I see a post or FAQ for, I dunno whatever...and it is specifically asked about an X3...but then the FAQ or repliers send the poster to an X5 page....are the X3 and 5 that close that there is interoperability with parts and accessories...? Just curious...

Also on an 04 X3 with Assist, no nav and other options what are the odds that it has Bluetooth...the car is having the creaky window fix done
today so I am not near it to see a pairing.....if it has it or not..

any idea?? tnx

I don't believe the 2004 has Bluetooth, so you'll have to do an aftermarket retrofit I believe.

A lot of the BMWs (until the "new" BMWs came around, i.e E65 7-series, E60, E90) worked similarly with most controls located in the same places and doing the same things. Of course, there's minor differences between the X5 and X3, but many of the same things apply. A closer tie actually exists between X3-Z4-E46 3, so many things that affect one model can be used on another. We're all in the same BMW world......

Of course, get into the new BMWs, that's a totally different thing. I still can't figure out easily how that darned radio/OBC display works on the E90, after test driving twice and driving my friend's twice.

My understanding is: If you have a build date prior to September '04, there's no Bluetooth, but the possibility of an expensive retrofit exists. You might want to verify this with your dealer.
