2007 X3 Video and Info

Is this the video for the new 2007 X3?

mms://PowerHost.PowerStream.NET/002/00317/bmw_X3.wmv

Is the X3 in this vehicle a U.S. protype or a European? It's gets confusing on the net cause sometimes alot of pics could be really European versions that will look totally different than the U.S.

I've also seen all these photos of the new X3 here:
http://www.worldcarfans.com/news.cfm...elift-in-depth

I think the best large pics are here:
http://www.netcarshow.com/bmw/2007-x3/

If anyone knows these questions I'd like to know:
1. Is the X3 in this video above going to be how it will look when it arrives in the US? If not what will be different. (I already read what all the facelifts will be I just want to know if this is what it will look like for the US)

2. Are the Comfort Seats they are referring to on the 07 new or have they been offered before on the X3? Are they the same Comfort Seats that appear in the 2006 X5? I sat in those and they were nice.

3. How much different will the X3 feel driving compared to the E46, I like the idea of a higher ride height but I don't want it to feel like a truck. Will it still be fun in the twisties or heavy? Body Roll? I want that BMW characteristic of the E46 not something numb like the Lexus Rx350.

4. I've read from posters that the Nav on the 2007 X3 will be an older version without the i-drive knob. I've also read that it will not have the latest RTTi updates like the new 07 E90 and 07 X5 will get. I really wanted a Nav on the next new vehicle I get, so will I be dissappointed with the Nav on the X3 since it appears to be a carry over design from previous years.

5. Will there be rear A/C vents on the 07 X3?

I admit I know very little about the X3 so I am asking for your help and thoughts. Thanks in advance for your info, look forward to reading your responses.

Oh I really think this board has the most informative info on both the X5 and X3 out there.

My only opin/info on any of your questions is that I think
the first vid is Euro model...if you go to BMW's main
site, they show pics, but they all bear the disclaimer
that the "model shown is European"...

It is euro. Euro spec cars aren't very different from U.S. cars at all... All we get is different lights with ugly amber reflectors (thank you D.O.T regulation...) and a different front license plate bracket (probably screwed into the bumper like current X3's). Also we have to have amber signal lamps. So although the light clusters are clear (white) the light bulb is still yellow.

Never been offered before in an X3, but the same comfort seats as in any BMW. And yes they are nice.

Go drive one. Feels very close to an E46, although you obviously can't have as much fun or go as fast around bends. Still though, there is nothing on the market today that can catch an X3 in the bends. Roll is there, but not to the point where you feel you are going to tip. Its definitively not numb like the RX.

Same nav as the E46. The X3 platform is a derivative of the E46, so it gets everything from the E46 (include its nav system) - therefore no iDrive.

No RTTi in the U.S. for the X3. Although all E46's, E83's (X3's), E53's (X5's) with navigation support traffic info in europe - but for some reason the feature isn't active in the U.S. Technically your X3 supports it, but its not available and will not work in the U.S.

You might like it, you might not. Many people hate iDrive, and love the older gen system the X3 has. Depends how techie you are. I love both.

Nope, X3 is based on the E46. E46 didn't have rear vents, so nor will the X3. At least not until its complete redesign in 2011 (which will be based on the new E90 3 series which does have rear vents).

Since you own an E46 you should be right at home in an X3, as all the tech is lifted straight out of an E46. Take a test drive, and best of luck..!
