Unhappy Region-free DVD reader...

Hi X3ers

I'm a rookie on the site, even if I read it daily for weeks now...
I bought an OEM BMW DVD-Rear entertainment system for my X3, and may enjoy it in a couple of weeks
The BIG problem is that it is locked for reading only region 1 DVDs (North America)m while I live in region 4 and my childs -Frenchies- have a collection of region 2...
See the problem ...
I'd like, as it's possible on any home DVD system, to make it a region-free reader, but need your help as it seems the web is absolutely empty of any kind of information about this cruel situation
Thanks to you all guys

Most DVD manufactures use the same method to de-regionise their players. Can you identify who made this unit for BMW (does it have any labels?). If you can it may be possible to identify a means otherwise
you could copy the DVD's using a PC, removing the region coding in the process. There are a lots of ways to do this, see http://www.videohelp.com/ for info.

I can help out big time for you my friend. But not with the BMW OEM DVD player. I manufacture an alternative that I can code Region free or Region 0 for you and fits all BMW applications. Let me know If I can be of any assistance to you.
