E61Silver is an unknown quantity at this point
The dealer is going to replace the transmission, sure sounds like he is trying to fix it.

Its bad luck that you have this problem but shit happens and its no ones fault.

Does anyone know if the 07 X3's have the same new auto tranny as the 335i? Or is it still the garden variety old GM tranny?

just a thought

anybody ever seen a mechanical problem resolved by resetting the computer?
I’ve never seen it happen HOWEVER I’ve seen A LOT of software problems resolved by resetting the computer

anyway if resetting the computer solved your shifting problem even 1 time I would think you have a computer/sensor/software related problem and not a transmission problem

Perhaps a similar problem: I had a 1995 525i with only 60k on the odometer and the tranny started to slip. After a great deal of research (from a trusted mechanic) and they sent me to a tranny place that said the tranny was shot. After a spendy rebuild and what-not I drove away only to have the same problem a week later. It turns out the tranny computer was bad burning out not one but two transmissions. Technology is great - until it isn't! The computers shift better and adjust to driving styles but can really cause havoc when they have a glitch.

Could you please describe your problem further? It reads like something normal. What do you mean by "shifting"? Did you add transmission fluid because the car needed it or because you thought it might help?

What year is your car? What model and how many miles?

Does the car always do that when stopping, or only sometimes?

To the OP...any update?
