Congrats on your new ride. FWIW, BMW will be bringing the marvelous 3.0 twin turbo diesel in the X3 & X5 in 2008 (sedans to follow), and the US went to low sulfur (clean) diesel last fall. MB & Audi either have of will be bringing their preimum diesels here.

You have an official press release to back that up? And if so, does it say what diesel engine will be available in each?

No, just stuff in this month's Carp & Drivel, recent articles in The Roundel, and my dealer's optimism. Now that US fuel is compliant, their competition (MB, Audi, & 'the Japanese') is already here, why wouldn/t they? When in 2008, good question.

Well, BMW and others may bring diesels in the future, but we don't know how wonderful they are, since no manufacturer makes a diesel that meets next year's emissions regulations. Even the current model Mercedes Bluetec 320 will not be sold next year in the US, as it is an order of magnitude away from passing the test.

Any diesel engine that does come to the US will be a first-year production model, with all the issues that brings.

I'm doing 8-9l/100km (*) with a 2.0d, and I've been reading that the 3.0 has similar consumptions (unless you always drive at 200+KM/h, of course).

(*) We did a ~7500KM trip (2x2500Km highway trip between Germany and Portugal and back, plus 2500KM city over there) and the reported average was at 8.1l.
The other kilometers we've done here (city and small highway trips) got an average of 9.2l.

The comp now gives 14.1 l/100km...

Will post the real world info when "empty" the tank and after refuelling...

Have you reseted the counter?

I'm using counter2 to get the average overall (since km 0), and counter 1 for specific averages (like the european trip this winter), by reseting counter 1 before those trips.
Counter 2 took a while to go down to 8-9l and in the first 500-1000 km it came down from above 20l/100Km.

Did you manage to get Songs names on mp3 CD playback...

French friend explained that I should press "info" than "list'' but on my radio CD (business) there is no "info" button and also there is nothing explained in manual....
