Red face Ice Link Plus not working

Well its official, im an ass. Why? Because when things aren't broken, i have to find some way to update them so that they dont work. I have an update fetish one could say. I just installed my fiance's ice link yesterday. Worked out well except for the whining in the background of the music. (anyone know any fixes for that?) So today for some reason i took it upon myself to flash the unit to version 2.10 (from 2.05) Now the ipod says version c.10 for the ice link plus version# and the cdchanger wont activate from the radio. Does anyone have any idea on how to reset these? Maybe a fuse (where would that be). This is my first bmw, actually hers, and i have always been a VW/Audi guy (still am) so im not up to par on where everything is. Just think...next is the parrot kit/Parrot ck3000 bluetooth kit..haha I am a glutton for punishment.

Today I TRIED to install my "NEW" Ice-Link Plus. Found the cd changer connections, disconnected the battery, plugged it all together. I can control the ipod and the stereo sees the ipod but I get no audio. There are two like 6 pin connectors under the console. Tried both. Both will control the ipod neither will give me audio. ?????

I'm no expert, but I bet you need to pull you radio (head unit), and swap the connectors in the back. One goes to the CD changer cables you plug the IceLink into, and on mine, those were unplugged from the radio at the factory.

If it's any consolation, getting the radio out isn't too difficult.

I'm going through the same thing with my DICE setup...everything works fine except the no audio. I've pulled the radio, switched wires, tried connecting the rear cargo and the center console...so far nothing...Tom from EAS and I figured that I don't have DSP, so we ruled that out. Has anyone else on here faced a similar issue?

C.10 is not a Dension release for firmware for BMW - where was this obtained from? More than likely, the flash has failed and the module is garbage.

Correct - more than likely the incorrect 12-pin is connected to the rear of the X3's radio. This is very common.

Could either be DSP or a defective module. I would recommend sending the module back and we can have it tested on our bench to tell for sure.

I found a bunch of files in a zip that had different Ice-link upgrade versions. It was supposed to be 2.10. I dont know why dension wont just post the updates on their site so that they are legit. The unit shows up on my ipod. When it was done it said it was set up for a bmw, turn off my ignition and turn it back on. Now theres no way for me to fix or get it replaced? is there a fix for the whine in the background?

I did the connector swap when I installed the Sirius receiver. Shouldn't that of fixed that problem?

Simply because 2.10 is not a BMW release, I'm not sure what you are attempting to install. One of the reasons the updates are not posted on the site is due to the fact the modules are very unstable during the updating process. If the flash is performed incorrectly - the module is garbage.
