Extended warranty/maintenance

Ok, I'm (more rapidly than I'd like) approaching the end of the warranty/maintenance period. My dealer says that to buy the extended warranty/maintenance package will run approx. $4200 for my X3.

1. Do I remember correctly that this can vary from dealer to dealer?
2. If so, any suggestions on where to get it cheapest?
3. Does my BMWCCA discount apply to this also?

TIA!

Yes, the dealers charge different prices. All of them mark it up, its just a matter of how much. I think there's a link on Bimmerfest where you can purchase an Ext. Warranty or Maintenance for a more reasonable price. THe catch is you have to send in your key.

I dont think the BMW CCA discount will apply.

I'd love to know why this thread got moved to the X3 forum, when the question has nothing to do with X3's, other than I happen to own one. Extended warranties are available to all, and that's why I posted the question in the Lounge in the first place. If we had a warranties forum, I'd have posted it there. There's a thread right now on third-party warranties in the Lounge - should that be moved based on the original poster's vehicle type?

RB,
1-Yes, it varies but some of the phonecall/net "sellers" have either
been reined in by BMW or, as most sltrs, have chosen to sell
Warr and/or Maint extensions "at" their location. Maintenance used
to require a "key run", thus the "local sale". But, check around with
any/all stlrs in your geographical location, which may not be many.

2-No idea...I recall reading that many of the lower priced phone rep
"sellers" have stopped humping the programs, "out of their sales
area".

3-It did not when I bought Ext Maint a couple years ago...it may, at
your local dlr.

Warranty Direct, et al, remain viable alternatives on the warranty side,
if you can stand a little risk.

I don't understand why your orig thread was moved either.
GL on the hunt and let us know what you ended up with.

Whats the risk, that the company will go under? anyone else have warranty through Warranty Direct? Ive been thinking about getting the 3yr/100k warranty through them once my BMW warranty expires at the end of the year.

Same here ... warranty direct. It covers everything the stealer warranty does - and has an option for "wear and tear" (vs. just failure). And, it's reasonably priced.
