2004 X3 2.5i bmw oem nav retorfit complete guide

Hi everyone,

I am a new member to the forum and I've done the whole nav retrofit on my 2004 x3.
Retrofitting the prof nav (oem bmw ) is possible but quite expensive. I've just done my 2004 x3 2.5i about 2 weeks ago.

Here's some info might help.

I bought the retrofit kit new from individual car consulting / ebay.de and it's cheaper than roveractive from ebay .com after the duty and shipping(I am from toronto)

Beware, there's no instruction for the retrofit included from the kit.

I am lucky enough to get a copy of the retrofit instruction from BMW AG and will post it if I know how to attached a file .

In the TIS, it says the retrofit is 5.5 hrs. After consulting 5 different dealerships in the GTA area, the service consultant from Oakville Budds (service advisor ANIL) qouted my 7 hrs top. Others are not sure how to complete the job or need to charge me as long as it's neccessary .The whole job took two days and it's currently working like a charm.

In terms of cost, parts cost about Cad $4000(with ups shipping and canadian duties), it's a 7 hrs job which cost cad$ 925 (with tax). There's 3 things missing from the list.

1) Navigation DVD 2007.1 (non ccc) usd199.99+shipping + tax
2) the left trunk flap to cover the dvd nav computer usd 79 from circle bmw.
3) software v 28 SW 4-80 in "setting screen"(included in installation) , hold on to the menu button for 10 sec, select perspective and hit "on", go back to nav mode and select "map positioning" and at the bottom hit Perspective again, and 3D map is done.

Hope that would help for those of you who is thinking about doing it. The OEM processor is way faster than hand held units and this will NOT void your warranty.

Enjoy your x3
