TPMS in MY07 X3

Hi, for MY07, how does the TPMS work? Is it in the valve stem? If i were to get new tires/wheels for say winter, would i have to do anything to make them work properly? Thanks in advance for any answers, i tried searching, but did not get any clear answers about the TPMS that the X3 has.

Tpms

Hi, I was told that the TPMS is just mesuring the balance of the car and beeps as soon as a tire has lower/higher preasure than the others.Hence there is no device in the rims.

I believe the system measures the rpm of each tire through the abs system. Once a tire starts turning at a different speed (faster) the alarm is sent.
