X5 Rims on an X3?

To All,

I thought standard X5 rims were the same and fit onto X3's, can anyone else confirm? I was looking for a set of 19" X5 Stock rims and was told by the dealer selling them that they would only fit on the X5........

Thanks
Rod.

The offset for the two vehicles is different.

They will "fit", but not perfectly, and as AzNM said, the
offset may induce some tire wear. There were a few posts
and pics by someone on the board that had 20" style 87s
from an X5 on his X3.

From memory, hub bore size is the same, lug bolts are ok
and it's just the offset that is diff. Fwiw, I'm gonna save
my 132s on my X5 and try them on an X3, if that comes
to happen.

the offset of the x5 and x3 wheels is usually around the same. Depending on which, it might actually be exactly the same.

the difference is that the x5 uses tires with a higher aspect ratio for the sidewalls, so the wheels with the x5 sized tires will not clear the wheel walls in the x3.

if you just got the x5 rims, and mounted properly sized wheels onto them for the x3, they will fit.

Roders,

Check this page of the site out:
E53 Wheel specifications

At the top of the page, you can select "X3 - E83," for comparison.

HTH!
