Dealer Invoice

I configured an X3 on the bmw website with a resulting MSRP of $43,750. The dealer invoice for this is $40,255. I offered $1200 over dealer invoice with floor mats thrown in and the salesman said that should work. Later I got a call from the salesman saying that after looking at the numbers and talking with his manager that he had to add an additional $480 to cover the MACO costs (prep, car wash, advertising). Has anyone encountered this? He said this cost is in addition to the dealer invoice.

Go to another dealership... Your deal was more than fair...

People have been getting $500 over invoice for X3's... You offered a fair deal and now they try to squeeze you? It doesn't work that way...

Typical car salesman "call back" to squeeze a few more
out of your...I agree with xx3: these aren't scarce and
you have other options in NJ. Or, stand firm to that stlr
and see if he wants one to do the deal. I'd guess an
ordered unit has a bit less wiggle room than a car on
his lot, eating into his "floor plan" financing...

Walk away......and then watch them call you back...then its your turn to haggle them down a little bit more, bluff em with a lower dollar figure you "supposedly" got from another stealership... plus let them know its the end of the month...... Its a bluffing game, the wittier one wins...GOOD LUCK

This is so OLD! My father fell for it 15 years ago.

Stuff like this make me SO MAD our next car may be a Saturn and the X3 will go to carmax. ZERO HASSLE.

If your smart and play your cards right there is no need to go to carmax...

Trust me, BMW dealerships aren't all that bad at least in terms of sales pressure. Try a Toyota dealership and tell me what bs you get

It's the cards I'm tired of playing with!!!

1 hr of research on the internet will get you with in a couple $'s for the car your looking at AND a couple $'s of what you'll get for your trade in.

Then you go to your favorite STEALER and 6 hours later MAYBE you'll be close to those figures.

OR a quick trip to CarMax (about 1 hour) ZERO HASSEL!
Then a quick trip to Saturn (another hour or so) ZERO HASSEL!!

The only problem I have with this is I absolutely refuse to EVER buy another GM car!!!

When I found out that most if not all of the cheep plastic interior and the automatic transmission are GM WE started looking for our next ride.

GM's improving their lineup. The new Saturn Vue looks promising.

What dealer are you using????? I bought 4 BMW's from 2 different dealers in NJ and NEVER paid MACO costs. This is something they mostly do in Cal.
Good luck. If you need the number of a great dealer and CA let me know.
cheers
