Need new tires - any suggestions? Dont like the Bridestones

My original Bridgestones are worn out at 33k and make a whole lot of noise. Any suggestions on a good replacement tire? I'm looking for something quieter and good all weather. Decent in snow but can handle the desert heat.

YEP those Firestones are really LOUD when they get a few miles on them!!

Go to Discount Tire or Tire Rack and plug in your tire size if you don't mind getting away from a "SUV" tire you get a much larger selection.
You'll probably notice the Bridgestones have one of lowest rating at Discount Tire.
Here's a link to Discount. http://www.discounttire.com/dtcs/sea...35&rd=17&ar=55

Note: We put Yokohama YK520's on from Discount and couldn't be happier.
Can't rate them on snow, we don't get much in Tx.

The OEM Pirelli Scorpion STRs are a good all-season tire. It's pretty good at everything. It grips well, lasts quite a while, and runs quietly.

Yep, that's what came on my new 07. My 06 had Bridgestones I didn't like them very much and they didn't last long. Maybe 28K miles.

The Pirelli's on my new X seem to quiter and they are wearing much better. I don't remember what I replace the Bridgestones with on my old X. But they were a big name brand tire that I got a really good deal on and they seemed to be better than the Bridgestones were.

They may have been Goodrich but I just don't remember.

Replaced my tires with Michelin Primacy MXV4s, discount didnt have Yokohama YK520 or Pirellis in stock and I didnt want to wait. I hope they are good, they were a little more money. The X is a little more quieter now but I still have a a bit of noise from the front end. Kind of a whoom whoom sound. I know its not the engine. I does it more the faster I go and when I turn right going slow, also seems to get louder at different speeds. I had it at the dealer prior to replacing the tires to check the front end and they found nothing. They said it was probably the tires. Any ideas? If the alignment is out will it cause road noise? It tracks straight.

I'll bet that's it, wheel bearing. Have the dealer check all of them. I read another thread, somewhere, of someone having this "whoop-whoop" sound and sure enough it was a rear wheel bearing.

Whistle Tire Recomendations

I have replaced the oem tires on 2 x3's with Scopion STR's. The origional equipment tires lasted: Michelins 38K and Pirelli's 45K neither were at or below the wear bars, but as we live in snowy climates we replace the tires for the winter when they are close to the bars 1/2 mm. The scops SUV tires seem to have better winter traction than the Michelins which are passenger car tires. Tire Rack currently has the Pirelli's on sale.
