Removing Trunk Roundel

Does anyone out there know how to remove the trunk roundel on the '06 x3. I removed and replaced the hood roundel, but the trunk one is different. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If I remember right--the whole assemble comes off--it is held on with mounting tape and is located with 2 pins that go through the hatch. Heat up the chrome base with a hair dryer or let the vehicle set in the sun to warm up the area and soften the adhesive. Protect the hatch with something (a credit card works) and slip a prying tool under the mount--work on both sides. Once off you can press out the rondel from the inside and there should be enough tape left to remount--if not use a little "goop: adhesive
Good luck.

replacing roundel

I have a titanium silver x3, and I bought a set of silver and black carbon fiber type roundels from EAS. The set I bought was specifically for the e83, but the roundels they provided are the same for the hood and the trunk. After removing the trunk roundel using the instructions found in the 1st response I realize that the same roundel won't work. The trunk roundel is larger, and wedge shaped, larger at the top and smaller at the bottom. I am in a quandry as to how to fix the matter without spending much more money. I have already replaced all 4 wheel roundels, hood and steering wheel.

P.S. Thanks Doug for the info, your instructions were perfect.

Photos

Here are the photos of what I have done. I think it turned out pretty well. I know it's not for everybody, if you don't like it don't do it. I am extremely happy with the BMW brand, so much so we bought a 2005 545i CPO for my wife. Please don't think I dislike the classic logo. I would never change the roundels on my wifes car.
