2004 vs 2007 X3 Interior Trim Question

I own a 2004 X3 and love the car except for the dash. The 2007s and 8s have the facelift-ed interior in which the wood trim extends out from the center console in front of the passenger seat and behind the steering wheel. I'm wondering if this extra trim can be applied to the existing dash of the 2004. Is it applied over the plastic that I have? I've seen interior trim kits for this car but none have these pieces. Thanks!
