Flip-up display is frozen - cannot access menus

We have a 2007 X3 and the screen on the flip-up display is frozen up, meaning we can't get into nav, the radio will not turn on and we can't change the time. When using the knob to scroll through the menus, there is no response. Is there a way to re-boot the computer on this model? I did a search and could not find a procedure. Any ideas? Has anyone else had this problem?

My car does this once every so often (drives me crazy). But most often just the screen flips up but no video. The Radio still works but when I press one of the buttons the Nav screen would fluctuate back and forth. When this happens I just force the screen down, then either press the left radio knob in to turn the radio off then press it again to turn the radio on. or after forcing the screen down, i press the screen switch button( the one next to the phone/info button).

Usually that fixes it, or just turn the car off and then turn the car on.

Mine did this about 7 months ago. Usually a simple re-boot which can be accomplished by having the car off for enough time to have the unit re-boot. I re-boot is achieved just by having the car off for at least 60 seconds...and then the splash screen =BMW= screen comes up and then accept. For mine to reboot i just left the car in off while at work, then came out after work and "all was well" when i started it back up. KiwiJochen (member handle) is the resident wizard on the Nav unit, PM him.

you should also try and do an update to the system. V32 just got posted.

http://www.x3world.com/navigation-sy...%2Acd+check%2A

Best part about upgrading:
The first thing I did to my X3 was an update since i bought my used. What i noticed before was the car position on the nav screen would move to the end of the page then the page would refresh. After the upgrade to V29.1, now the map moves and my cat is always at the middle of the screen and as I turn the car, the map also moves around keeping my car always pointed towards the top of the screen.

It is also listed that V28 was to help the issues you are seeing. But I still see it here and there.

I was having issues with my navigation not popping-up and the dealership replaced the entire unit under warranty. It sounds like you're having more issues than I was, so if you request a new navigation they'll probably replace it for you.
