Are these the same thing?

"Windows Guide Seal" and "Roof Frame Seal"... are they the same thing?

I've been experiencing the squeeking noise on all four doors and sent to the dealer twice:
- first time they replaced the "Inner Windows Trim"
- second time they replaced the "Roof Frame Seal"

But now I found a newer SIB suggesting to replace the "Windows Guide Seal":

http://www.alldata.com/tsb/BMW/11228...5/5128051.html

If these two are the same thing, I will just give up and stop trying to fix this annoying problem. But if they are not the same, I just want to get it done for the last time and don't want to deal with the only dealer here any more. It's even more annoying dealing with them

I'm not sure, but they describe the problem as coming from the "door frame area." I must assume that is the same as "inner window trim."?

The squeaking has been a major (probably the ONLY major) issue with the X3, thus far. My wife's X3 is no exception. We're just waiting for the first service to get it handled. Sorry to hear about your problems. Keep us updated.

Juan

Hi Juan,

I called the dealer again part number for the "Roof Frame Seal" that they replaced is the same as the "Windows Guide Seal" stated on the SIB. So they are indeed the same.

So looks like there's nothing else can be done, I'm going to put this to bed.

I can understand your frustration, but I don't know that I'd "put this one to bed." You've got every right to expect that your $40K dollar have better quality assurance than a fooking Kia! I would go back to them and say that this is simply unacceptable. If the dealer does nothing, I'd contact BMWNA.

Good luck. Keep us posted.

Juan

Yeah (sigh)... unfortunately, I live in Singapore... there's only ONE dealer in the whole freaking country... there's no BMWXX to complain to!!! If they don't do anything about it, there's not much I can do. Their mentality is, "if you want a BMW, then you have to get it from me even my service sucks"!
