Don't laugh...what about a timing belt
Years ago when I owned a 5 series (not a 3) ...what sunk me was a timing belt breaking and destroying a couple of pistons etc..... I went thru the inspections and nothing was mentioned about a timing belt change...do the new x3 bimmers not have one?? Forgive me for asking such a basic question but it's been a while since I had one....btw...it's still like driving in heaven....NOTHING drives like this....

No need for you to worry about that anymore. Even my 94 325i doesn't have one.

There are many things that will be better this time around for you, but there were many good things about the earlier Bimmers as well, with the exception of the timing belt and such. Lots more to go wrong electrically now and some things don't seem like they were made to last quite as long as the earlier models as well, but overall you should be pleased. No more need to adjust the valves as well.
