I have the same issue. Once and a while it takes a few seconds to crank over and other times I don't even have to turn the key all the way. Could it be the key?

Individual settings on keys

I had both keys programmed by the dealer for individual settings. My wife has hers and it will adjust memory features to her liking, same thing for my key. Only thing is I don't use my key often, so it goes dead. I'll use if for a while and it charges up. I suspect if I were to re-program I would lose the individual settings.

Interesting;

I did mine myself using the instructions found in the manual
and on this site.

That is interesting.

I saw nothing in the manual to suggest a DIY. In fact it described the features which can be done and and instructed to have the dealer do the programming. Which didn't cost me anything, BTW. Though I'd rather know how to and do it myself.

This is an X3 forum so I apologize for that. Maybe your manual doesn't cover the process. However I believe post #6 in this thread might help.
But you may be right perhaps the X3 doesn't have that option.

I think you two are talking about different things. To my knowledge you have to take it to the dealer to "program" in that option: The one to make each key automatically reposition the seats and mirrors. Not just for locking and unlocking.

Thanks, I'm talking about both. "Re-programming" looks to correct a dead key. My thought was that if I tried the outlined procedure, it may cancel out the "programming" done at the dealer. My key is intermittent, due, according to the service adviser, infrequent use.

I don't see anything in the manual other than the personal options, which directs to have programmed at the dealer. The personal options as far as I know are memory for driver seat, outside mirrors, HVAC and security lights.

I've never been able have the HVAC work correctly with this feature, and the three different dealers I've seen don't know what I'm talking about. With my wifes key, the system will blast air and set temp to a low temp, no matter how she left it. My key will turn off the AC and set fan at low, no matter how it was left. Basically every time we lock or unlock the vehicle we have to re-set the HVAC.

I suppose I can have the dealer disable this "convienience" feature.
