Engines confirmed for next gen X3?

anybody know what engines for both Eur and US markets?

35i like in the 2011 X5 would be great .....

40d would make a rocket of the next X3 ....

in Aus they tend to water engine options down a bit .... probably to slow them down over the X5 to stop X5 drivers feeling bad .... but this time around I think they need some real oomph engines to knock over the Audi Q5 updates that are coming ... (next X3 will be about same size / weight as Q5) ....X5 will move up a peg for 2012/13 ... more like Audi Q(E)7 in size to accommodate 7 seats with ease ....

There has been discussion about four and six cylinder, topping out with the 35i. Diesels would also be four and six cylinder. Maybe a 35d, maybe just the 30d. It is all speculation right now.

35i should be a great campanion to the X3 - esp if they slot in the 8 speed box - but once again they will need to be careful that they don't offend or even worse take X5 buyers back to and X3 sale ...so suspect they will dumb it down a little to keep it in its place (a bit like what porsche do withe the Boxster so not to offend the 911 big brother)
