You don't need anything special for your flat tire monitor, as it functions by comparing the rotating speed of any wheel with another wheel on the same axle. It doesn't measure pressure.

Can't help with aftermarket wheels, I use OE.

I wasn't aware that you had any TPMS sensors on a 2005 X3. I thought you had a Flat Tire Monitor (FTM) that monitored pressure by measuring rotational speed of the wheels, as per the owner's manual posted on this site. BMW did use different systems in different markets.

There are two types of TPMS sensors. One is attached to the inside of the valve stem, and the other is attached to the centre of the rim, inside the tire, by a band. The only sure way to detect the latter, and the best way to detect the former, is by demounting the tire.

Why do you believe you have TPMS sensors?
