May 2006 BMW Group Sales Report

BMW Group vehicle sales this May were up 5.3% when compared to May of last year. YTD sales for the first 5 months of 2006 were up 9.9% based primarily on sales on the 3, 5, and 7 Series.

Sales of the X Series decreased 4.9% while car sales were up 10.7% when compared to last May. This month marks the first anniversary for sales of the E90 3 Series in the United States.

Sales of the BMW brand were up 7.1% this month when compared to last May.

Total Mercedes Benz sales of 21,621 units this month represents a 21.4% increase in sales when compared to the total of 17,811 sold in May, 2005. YTD 2006 sales for MB are also up some 17.1%. MB trucks were up 84.0% in May and 105.3% YTD when compared to the respective periods of last year. This improvement in MB truck sales is due to the introduction of the R Class and GL Class which were not available in May, 2005.

Please note that I report only United States sales data.
