Here we go...tires
I'm sure this has been through the threads before, but I've had no luck searching.
I'm looking to get new tires for my '04 X3, sport, 18". looking to go 255/45 rear and 235/50 front. I currently have the stock Pirelli Scorpion, which aren't too bad, but I don't need M+S here in Arkansas. Thoughts/Suggestions?

Go for the Yokohama Advan S/T if you're into spirited driving... Very good performance but cheaper than the Michelin Diamaris...

thanks...but
my wife is the main driver now (it hurts) and I am in my fantasitc '06 Pontiac Grand Prix (feel that excitement!!!). So I'm looking for tires that aren't real sporty, something decent that handles well, good traction, etc.
I guess middle of the road as far as sportieness goes.

I loved my 18" Michelin MXV4 tires. They rode excellent and I got over 65K miles out of them.

glad to hear it
I've read where users find them hard and uncomfortable to drive on. Website ratings can be misconceiving. They are on my list as an option!

Any time you start to think about tires, it is important to consider your priorities. A great dry tire is going to be a bad rain tire. A good snow tire is going to be bad everywhere else. A high performance tire is not going to last as long, ride as well or be as quiet as a touring tire but will offer better grip.
So... what are your priorities in a tire? |

The OEM 18" Michey MXV4s I still have on our '01 3.0 Sport have been sensational! I have 51K and they look good for another 20+. Hellsbells, 3 of the 4 tires have patches and one has two patches from the hillbillynaildroppings back on our Mtn. (Save the "unsafe lecture" BS: the patches will outlast the tire tread and this car is not run on Da Ring.) NEway, great oem tar...maybe the best oem tire I've ever had on a car. GL,md
