Unhappy How to find the power source in overhead interior light compartment?

Hi everyone,

I bought a vehicle recording camera, and when I was trying to install it behind the mirror, I just couldn't find a power source around that area.

What I look for is a 12V wire and it comes on when the car is started. Could anyone help, please?! So much appreciated.

Thank you.

There should be one on both the rear view mirror and the RLS sensor. Should be a violet wire with a trace colour, but check the schematic before modifying the wiring. GND is always brown.

also, in the area of the "overhead bin" should be a 3-pin connector for the garage door opener - one of the wires there is a power on ignition... the connector, if not used for the actual door opener, should be taped off and shoved in the cavity back there - most US spec BMWs have that feature pre-wired since mid 90s

X3 uses the mirror for the garage door opener like the E46, there's no 3 pin connector for an UGDO module.
