White05X3 is on a distinguished road
Wanna Hear a Crazy Story???

So at 10:00 Am tomorrow I am going to pick-up a brand new 6-speed 05 X3 3.0, white/black, Premium, Sport, DSP, Cold Weather, Privacy Glass, Servotronic, Xenons, and Nav. It is IDENTICAL to the X3 already in my garage but for the transmission.

How this came to pass is funny. In March of 05 I picked-up a white/black 05 X3 3.0 (see description above) in Munich. The dealership and I both made a mistake. The car was for my wife, and it was supposed to be automatic. Well, servotronic...steptronic... they are just so similar, you know what I mean???

Anyhow the dealer was nice and unwound the deal on the 6-speed and got my wife her automatic. We drove the 6-speed all around europe for 3 weeks then never saw it again.

In the interim I was driving an 05 Mini Cooper S. In November we got into a bad accident in the Mini (everybody was fine) so it was time for a replacement. Interestingly enough, the 6-speed I got in Europe is still sitting at the dealership for sale. And they are selling it to me for one heck of a low price

It seems that neither the dealer nor BMW knew how to handle the deal. It is sitting in limbo not even entered into the dealerships inventory computer. So I get my 6-speed back to replace the Mini. I will say this though... I am REALLY, REALLY going to miss the Mini. What an awesome ride!!!!

So maybe I will change my screen name to White05X3(s) and be done with it all.

One other interesting unintended consequence here... once I believed I was not keeping the 6-speed, the break-in rules went somewhat out the window. That car was broken-in on the autobahn and was run HARD. The automatic, on the other hand, was broken-in by the book. Who knows... maybe there will be some difference...
