I think it's a pretty cool little commercial and I'm liking the new X3. Can't remember, what's the biggest power output available going to be? If an M version is planned or it's going to be quicker than my 4.8is it will go on the list to investigate further.

The new X3 xDrive35i is already faster than your 4.8is, so an M version would destroy it. 0-60 estimates are 5.5 seconds for the xDrive35i. Imagine what the M version would be! LeMans reported that if there is an M version it may have the next gen M3 engine and out handle the X5M.

I see.... well I've got to go check one out then and start reading about these. Sounds like the new X3 is close dimensionally to the e53, not sure about weight as I'd expect it to be less than the 5k lbs of the 4.8is. I'm liking the idea of an M version of the X3. The old story of less weight and more power is the right combo for sure.

I think weight is supposed to be around 4,000 - 4,150 lbs. depending on which model/engine.

Sucks for me that the base US model xDrive28i is faster than my 4.4i. It has a 0-60 of about 6.7 seconds.

This thread has some good info on speed and size.

Thanks I'll check it out - I watched a few videos and read some of the reviews. Pretty interesting. If there is eventually a M version it should be really hot.

Estimates for new M3 are in 450HP range with 0-60 under 4 sec. Current E90 M3 will end of production in 11/2011 (when BMW announces next 3-series sedan) followed by EOP for E92 coupe. That will probably be end of current era of NA engines for M division. No M3 sedan next time but a GT3 version of M3
New M6 will not be the king of hill in ///M family this time as a Gran Coupe ///M version is on cards.
