Whistle Make room for X4 Sports Activity Coupe!

With the new BMW CEO, Dr. Norbert Reithofer (a technical guy for a change) in office for few months now, we will see several new models from BMW in next 5 years. With V5 RFK and X6 already in testing, there will be another addition on X line-up. X4 coupe (SAC) got the green light recently. Just like X6 is high-end coupe version to X5, X4 will be high-end coupe version to X3. Like the X6, a high-end M-version of X4 will also follow with ~420hp. Below is Huckfeldt's initial impression which gives a rough idea on shape. Notice the kidney grills, new grill styling from BMW.

X4 will be 10 cm flatter than the current X3. Not sure at this point if it will be 2-door or 4-door. Its is supposed to be out by 2011.

To add to X5 and X6 line-up, X5 and X6 hybrid and diesel versions will follow soon.

What do you think - the X6 might look something like this? I'm getting antsy.

Even though it looks like one of those Infinity Dodge Neons from the back, I still like it.

I understand that. I know that's what they're trying to do. I just think it's the wrong strategy. They are in danger of cheapening the brand. Growth is good and important for every company. I get that. But, it just seems like BMW wants to build a car for EVERY possible demographic. Let GM and Ford build cars for every single market segment, and concentrate on your core business.

Then again, what do I know? BMW has been a huge success story, and one of the few companies that has not struggle recently...
