I must be honest though for the sake of a 8mpg difference with a diesel I wouldn't swap the V8 roar a untamed power of my petrol...plus the tractor sound is a pure mood killer for me..))

Lol. Yeah the v8 sounds good, but read up on the numbers mate. The 3 litre oil burner is every bit as quick as the 4.4 but mate, by your own numbers I am getting nearly 20mpg better than you around town, not 8...

That's not what your thread is about tho, and I respect that. Air filter for sure (unless you know it's fresh), and oil weight can make a real difference to consumption.

Hahah...I'm not having a go...I updated the thread after clearing errors I'm getting 20 to 22 you've made my day saying the diesel only gets 20mpg around town...I did a lot of research before going petrol as a lot say its not a huge difference and no point at all unless you're doing serious miles..))

Where did I say 20 around town? I said around 28.5 in a previous post in this thread. Hate it when people don't read what someone wrote and then misquote them anyway.

I went diesel as I tow a large caravan, and the 4.4 just doesn't have the torque needed.

I only based my comments on your original post. Anyway, good luck, will leave you too it. Am not going to get into a debate over economy figures.

everybodys city and highway driving is different. where I live, sometimes I can barely go 300 feet without hitting a stop sign. speed limit is 25 around town and 50 highway. all highway I get about 24 mpg. all city I get about 11-12 mpg
