Check the level sensors are all in tact too.

Thanks for mentioning that... I looked over his maintenace records and it shows that on 2 years ago an Indy shop replaced a "level sensor and regulating rod."
"Checked the vehicle leveling system and found a defective level sensor right front. Need to replace sensor and calibrate system." How can you tell if the level sensor is bad or not? In the meantime, I figured out the level sensor on RealOEM. Only $75 at ECStuning.com. #10 37146784696 Last edited by D Unit; 04-13-2015 at 02:47 PM. |

Was thinking more the arm if they're broken as if the level sensor is knackered then you'd get the self level inactive error normally.

OT, but when you REPLACE the sensor, does the system need to be calibrated or is it just straight PNP ?

If you are rising and lowering your car and it is always stopping at the same level, continuously: sensor should be ok. As others said if the arm is bent or slipped the angle it will be out of range and indicated as bad sensor.
You need to see the voltage levels on the software to tell or identify if a sensor is really wrong. I have one sensor which is acting very different than the other 3 and I made it work as the others by calibrating the sensor counts. REgards |

If replacing sensor I would always recalibrate

Thanks all. In my case, this has been going on-off for about 1 1/2 years now. Intermittedly, SLS would come on....enough to warrant paying attention. During one occasion, where it was on, drove it to the INDY and he told me one sensor was out of spec. 2nd to that, while on the rack, INDY recently said the bad is on it's way out, as they can hear a slight hiss out of the bags.
Who knows and maybe I suppose I'm throwing parts at it, but I'm doing the bags 1st, as it's cheap to replace and the car is 12 years old |

As I understood from this SLS system, any leaks can cost you the compressor in the end.
Better to find and stop the leaks first of all. I hope you fix it soon |

I would check your linkages and regulating rods to be sure they aren't seized up, they rust up and don't articulate well after a few years on salty roads. Mine were toast in early 2012 and who knows if they were original or not. I also had an intermittent SLS for a couple months about 2 years ago and re-calibrated, haven't had it since. My deviation was just on the cusp of being out of spec and sometimes if i'd hit a large enough incline or bump it would throw a ride height deviation code as it was trying to compensate. Been fine since.
