Transfer Case Compatability (3.0/4.4 2000-2003 NV125)

I'm finding conflicting information online about transfer case interchange between the 3.0 and 4.4 transfer cases from 2000 to mid 2003.

Some places seem to list them as interchangeable between the 3.0 and 4.4.

Others seem to indicate a difference between the two.

Cobra doesn't list two different ones in their listings, neither does this Ebay seller:

Yet some online parts catalogs list two different versions for them:

Can anyone confirm one way or the other with certainty?

I have a 4.4, but finding a re-buildable core from a 3.0 seems quite a bit easier.
