Anyone removed the resonator in their V8's?

I did it for my 540 but it was a non-TU. It sounded great but a friend did the same to his 540 but has the TU motor and complained of raspy sound in the mid ranges.

thoughts?

thanks!

Lots of us have. It was one of the first things I did to my 2000 540 (tu) and, 11 years later to my 2004 4.8is. Sound is awesome. I never had a problem with raspy in the E39.

Thanks! where did you get the X pipe? I was thinking about just cutting it out and slapping in a tube with exhaust clamps.

Mine was X-piped before I bought it, didn't realize it until I crawled around under it. No rasp whatsover, I actually wouldn't mind a bit more rumble...

Can anyone post images of the mod please? I too would like to give my X a bit more beefy sound, but unsure of this mod, where to get the pipe or if a local muffler shop can simply do this for me.
