go to your settings on the nav unit. it should be in the top right. also look in the trunk at the nav disc drive. MK4 says "dvd" on the front while MK3 doesn't say anything and uses a CD set instead of DVD

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
You could use a new LCD screen (under $200) but it looks like it was an option in 2003 for MK4 nav or it was retrofitted.

Update the firmware and maps so it works better.

There is a mulitude of information right here in this forum in the FAQ, HOW TO's and ARTICLE'S links across the top of the page.

For example...here'sa link to an exhaustive thread on how to tellwhich Nav CPU you have as well as which software you're running...and links (looktoward the bottom) on how and where to find or burn copies to upgrade the software: http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all...ystem-faq.html

Swapped mine out about a year ago. I wouldn't call it hard, as long as you have detailed DIY instructions. Lots of small screws and tiny connectors, so it does take some patience. Small fingers (mind aren't!) are definitely a plus. The real booger is putting it all back together and seeing that the image on the screen is shifted left or right, and you can see a black strip on one side. There are tiny adjusters on the back of the board to calibrate...

Please let us know where these $200 screens are located. Mine is looking like a checkerboard.

Edit found germanauditech on ebay $160 shipped. Brand new Sharp screen.
