Indie Shop in Fairfield County, CT??

I haven't encountered too many people local to the Connecticut area on the forum, but thought I'd ask. There seems to be quite a few shops in the Hartford area, but that's too far of a haul for me.

I've found Nico's and D'Agostino Brothers, both in Stamford...and that's about it. Neither gave me the warm and fuzzies upon my first visit. I haven't had work done, just talking to them and checking the shop out.

Would anybody happen to know somebody that you could refer me to?

Thanks in advance.

Master Mechanic

My mechanic is in Waterbury, CT and has over 30 years experience, and specialized in Bmw's and Mercedes, but can fix any make of car. He has personally been my mechanic for over 20 years. It is not uncommon to see several beamers and benz parked in front of his house waiting for service. He is a perfectionist and I dont let anyone else work on my X5 or any of my other vehicles. His name is Paul and his number is 203 754-0741, you tell him Dan Mancini referred you. Good luck, you wont be disappointed I can guarantee you that.

Thanks Dan. I live in Norwalk and work in Stamford so Waterbury is a little far, but I might check him out.

Dan,

Thanks. I'm in the same area as Rick and may need to be able to get onto Metro North to NYC so Waterbury is too far for me too.

A mobile Bimmer mechanic would make a fortune in this area.

Brian, I had D'Agostino Brothers on Long Ridge Road change my tension struts and ball joints. The guy knew his $hit and was reasonably priced. Certainly didn't rip me off from what I have been told prior regarding the labor to do that work. Seemed like a pretty good guy too (for what it's worth).

If you go there, ask for Joe and let him know that I referred you.

Thanks for that. Due to the shortage of Indie shops in the area, I'm going to extend my warranty for another 2 years. Then I guess I'll be looking again (but I'll make a note this one).

I've been spending some time (for work) in southern and northern California. I couldn't believe the number of Indie shops around.

I think i'd need to look around for an Indie as well, so far i have serviced it at BMW in portchester. Nothing major so it's been OK.

Thought I would revive this thread as I'm wondering if anyone in Fairfield County, CT has an affordable indy mechanic they use. My mechanic just relocated down south and as luck would have it my 2003 X5 3.0 needs a new steering rack, lower control arms and front drivers side axle. She's about to hit 225,000 miles.
