Fuel pump running but no rail pressure
Fuel pump runs when turning key to pos 2 and I can feel pressure increase in hose from fuel pump. however, there is absolutely no fuel pressure on the rail. Fuel filter hasn't been changed for years so I figure this could be caused by a clogged filter. Any other ideas? |

any fuel smell?
first look into the fuel filter and when you're down there look at the fuel lines. then work your way forward towards engine/firewall.

Bad fuel pump that still spins?
Can you turn ignition switch, get pump running, loosen fuel line at fuel filter inlet, and see if fuel will come out?

Also, check test 6 on your OBC and see if there is fuel in tank # 2.
You may have a bad transfer pump so although you may have fuel, there may be none at the side of the tank where the fuel pump is.

Great input from you guys. I'll go buy fuel filter now and start working on it in a few hours. i'll make sure to check fuel is coming from the pump when I'm down there but will hold off on buying the pump until I know it's broken.

I suggest you do test 6 on obc first before buying anything.
It may be as simple as a loose transfer pump line or degraded transfer pump o-ring. You can fix all that without crawling under the car or opening the hood too.

How much gas does the gauge reads? You could have a bad transfer pump.

Uh oh, there's fuel at the pump side then.
I guess it's time to check for fuel at the fuel filter inlet?
