Window Regulator Field Repair

A few days ago my right rear window regulator failed. I was 100 miles from home and the window was in the fully down position. I was able to use a pocket knife to pull back the rubber moulding to slip two pieces of clear packaging tape, one piece on each side into the space I had created. Once I had about 2" of tape along side the recessed window I used the knife blade to secure the tape to the window glass. I was then able to carefully lift the window enough to grab it and push it back into the closed position. Once there, I used more packing tape to hold the window closed until I could repair it properly.
