Quick question about the rear only self leveling air shocks

I ordered the Left and Right sports air shocks for my 4.4l w/ rear only self leveling suspension,

opened both boxes to put on tomorrow (sunday) and one of the air springs is a completely different size. The Left hand side is smaller then the right side. Wondering if anyone who has replaced this before knows if that is how it is suppose to be or if I got sent a comfort spring instead.

I have seen photos of DIYs that look like they might just be different sizes, but before putting them on I just want to verify that they should be different. Arnott is closed today and will not be opened again until monday and tomorrow is the only day I have off and thus the only day to do this

Please help if anyone has knowledge on this

Just to help you (and those will be able to give advice), could you confirm
A. the part numbers you ordered.
B. the part numbers that are on the two boxes
C. the part numbers on each airspring
D. photo of the air springs

I successfully used Arnott rear air springs on my car (rear only self leveling), so it might be that you have one correct one and one incorrect one - they are both the same length / size for an E53.

According to both the email confirmation and the packing slip for my order, I ordered the following from Arnott:

1 A-2504 Arnott Rear Left Sport Air Spring - 00-06 BMW X5 (E53) w/Rear Leveling

1 A-2503 Arnott Rear Right Sport Air Spring - 00-06 BMW X5 (E53) w/Rear Leveling

Only one of the Springs (pictured below) has any type of product number labeled on it. You can see where they specify Sport on the shocked on the right side of the photo.

The shocks are photographed with the Left Spring on the left and Right Spring on the right

Both upper mounting pins and lower locking pins on the left one match what they should be for the x5 which is why I feel like it may be the "comfort" left shock they sent me

These are air springs not shocks (which your car has as well). I would conclude that they indeed put the incorrect part in one of the boxes. The picker at Arnott couldn't have known this.

I can appreciate that it's today for your project but I'd wait till Monday. You have photos and this will help them (as well as the text write-up you posted). Replacing only one side (say the right) isn't dangerous but you'll need to repeat the same procedure (jack up car, remove fuse, undo plastic cover in trunk, undo air lines, etc.) twice.

Yea, I am thinking they sent me the wrong one. Sadly the left air spring is the one that has a hole in it on my X so that is really the only one the truck is in need of. The only reason I thought there was a slight chance that they are just different sizes is because in this write up:

http://www.xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-foru...nt-photos.html

The comparison photo makes it look like the new ones are different sizes, granted, he is putting on comfort springs and not the sport ones. That is what had me originally thinking they might just be different sizes for some random reason
