what kind of tranny fluid for 02 x5 3.0 also i need to add about a tad over 1/2 quart what would be the easiest way to put it in been the tranny has no dip stick i have a very minor oil leak by the electrical connector located pass rear of tranny. thanks

You have the GM trans so Dexron III or Dexron VI will work. If you are only adding a quart I would look for Dexron III.
Engine has to be in Park and engine running when you add the fluid. Don't open the fill plug if the engine is not running or else you gonna loose a bucket of fluid.

trans was remove but not all the way just enough to fix an oil leak that seem to be from rear main but it wasn't so when the line were disconnected they drain out.the oil leak was coming from the 2 screws that go thru oil pan
