Advice / Experience required... Front diff change.

After my X5 (3.0d 2005) broke down last week with a destroyed front diff, I decided to purchase a new one from BMW to be fitted by my usual garage (Total cost £1660).
I now have another issue.
When the steering is at full lock and I move either forwards or reverse there is a rumble/juddering... only in full lock...otherwise it drives fine.
My garage says it may be the transfer box but thought I'd check here for advice / solutions and to see if anyone else has had the same issue?
I didn't have this before the diff gave in and my usual garage has rechecked the diff oil the day after.
Thanks.

Advice / Experience required... Front diff change.

The garage that fixed the front diff have had it in and still cant decide what it is. However just tonight the DSC & ABS dash lights have come on and the warning ping was DSC inactive and the juddering/rumble has stopped when turning!..
Anybody any more thoughts / advice?..
Thanks.

Sounds like a steering angle problem. With the DSC inactive, the ABS brakes are no longer being controlled by the computer. The initial shudder/juddering could be from the computer controlling the brakes. Now that you have a DSC inactive code, get a scanner or go to a shop that has the capability to read the DSC inactive code.

Got Christmas out of the way and have had the X in the shop.
Garage have diagnosed it as the actuator for the transfer box.
£600+ from BMW so tried the actuator gear replacement that seems to be all over the internet but there was no issues with the original gear within the actuator. Garage have tested and re-calibrated it and the actuator motor appears to be working but the lights are still present.
I have had the steering angle sensor checked and there are no errors so I think I will try the wheel sensors next...
Just posting an update for anybody else with the same DSC/ABS problems.
Thanks.

With the DSC ABS inactive, do you still get that juddering at full lock?

No.. the juddering stopped when the DSC/ABS lights appeared.
Now every time I start the car the DSC light appears and then the ABS so no juddering since.
Do you have a thought/solution?

The juddering was probably due to the ABS kicking in. With the ABS light on, the ABS is deactivated so it is no longer kicking in. Get the X scanned for why you have those lights.

Garage have run diagnostics again and as the actuator wouldn't calibrate the conclusion is either the actuator motor or the clutches inside the transfer box.. not the wheel sensors.
Garage is going to run some tests on the actuator motor, check the oil within the transfer box and then replace the clutch gear within transfer box as a last solution.
If anyone has any other solutions or had a similar issue I would be interested.
Will post back when this is done.
