Angry REPLACING CLUTCH+FLYWHEEL, have a problem

Hi Guys, finally got to replace flywheel, clutch kit and install short-throw shifter.
Broke one stud out of 4 disconnecting the exhaust (shocker)
The real problem I am having with starter - all bolts are out - I have tilted the gearbox a little to remove all of them and while gearbox happily came loose - about half an inch, starter is trying to come with it. I have tried to push it out of bell housing VIA putting the bolts back half way and hammering the other end of the extension but it won't come out. Have you had any similar difficulties with it while removing gearbox/transmission? There are only 2 torx bolts holding it down to bellhousing right?
Thanks in advance for your input.
Roman

I have an automatic, but just replaced my starter. Two bolts holding it on that pass through the bell housing. Starter was still snug, but popped loose readily with a rubber mallet.

Thank you.. By the time I got back to it, wd40 must've worked and I was able to beng it out.. As of now gearbox is out but new thow- out bearing won't fit on a sleave it slides on.. Also as I had mentioned, I broke one of the studs that holds exhaust joint, it sticking out about 1/2 of the inch, is there technique or tool to force it out?

Clutch worned out unevently, more on the outer part, dual mass flywheel has play in every direction, rear driveshaft seal is leaking a little bit, overall I think this project was a good idea plus I will get to know my car a little better.

Weld a nut to it and use a wrench to back it out.

Here the procedure:

Good attitude ... Makes the DIY a lot more fun!

I have broken two studs, comes with the territory at this many miles and years. One came out with a home made c-clamp press (I use kroil oil to help free it). One was a ridiculous PITA... Messed and messed with it and finally drilled it with a carbide drill bit... Remember it killing a few Hss steel bits, but can't remember if I was to blame for that or not.

Hi, thanks but I am doind this on my driveway, have no means to weld plus I think that studs are just forced in and dont have treads in corresponding part.. I will add same pictures.... For clarity

I think the OP meant the spherical joint between the exhaust manifold and the first section of pipe (joint is held by two studs) - those studs are held in by a press fit, not threads. New one have a knurl to press in.

Exhaust studs going into the head would be a different story...
